Horadam Watercolor Retro Set "Jan Wellem"
Metal box with six colors in 5 ml tubes and historical Jan Wellem print on the inside of the lid and historical owl on the outside. Contains all three special colors: Solferine, Gamboge gum and Cassler brown.
Jan Wellem, actually Johann Wilhelm II of the Palatinate (1658-1716), Elector Palatine who turned Düsseldorf into a cultural center, was known for his splendid court, his promotion of art and culture and his popular appearances, earning him the nickname 'Jan Wellem'. This is probably why the art-loving Elector became the inspiration for the Horadam watercolor travel set in the 1930s. The box has been reissued according to the historic original design and made into a collector's item with two special prints.
