Benlim is used to seal the canvas before applying the gesso (primer). Bone glue can also be used as a binder for pigments, but we recommend that you know the material before experimenting with pigments and bone glue. Benlim gives a patinated look to objects - apply with a brush and remove excess with a clean cotton cloth. Then leave to dry for at least 12 hours. Use: Soak the bone glue in water for about 24 hours Then melt it in a water bath so that it does not get above 100°C, which it does not tolerate. The bone glue must be used warm.
