Golden Isolation Coat

It can have two purposes: to protect the painting from damage when the varnish is removed and to seal any absorbent areas to create an even surface for varnish application.

It is important to consider whether an isolation coat is the right solution for each painting. Consider whether the changes created by the application of an isolation coat and subsequent varnish are expected and desired. It is important to test the product before applying it to a painting to avoid unwanted changes such as foam and bubbles, texture changes, color changes or color shifts.

It is not recommended to use Golden Isolation Coat on oil paintings or paintings made with water-soluble media as the product can negatively affect the painting. If you have a painting with varying surface textures and gloss, an isolation coat can also have a negative effect on the painting. In addition, consider whether to apply the product with a brush or spray, as brush strokes can interfere with the brush strokes in the painting.

If you decide to use Golden Isolation Coat, remember to seal the absorbent surfaces of the painting as this will make it easier to apply the varnish and prevent the varnish from being absorbed into the surface, leaving an uneven and cloudy surface.

The product can be applied with a brush or spray and gloss products should be used to achieve the clearest surface. Golden Isolation Coat can be applied directly or mixed with water or Soft Gel (Gloss) to achieve the desired consistency. After applying the first Isolation Coat, it may be necessary to apply additional coats to achieve the desired coverage.
