Old Holland oil paints - quality and tradition

Old Holland has a long and impressive history stretching back to 1664. Oil paints are therefore based on experience and recipes that have been refined over hundreds of years. Perhaps this rich history is one of the reasons why Old Holland oil paints have a special place in the hearts of many artists - another reason, of course, is the unsurpassed quality and the clear and pure colors. The range also includes 168 colors, all with the same exceptional lightfastness and a consistency that makes them a real pleasure to work with.

Each tube of Old Holland oil paint is distinguished by a colored stripe at the top above the label that demonstrates the color. The stripe is hand-painted with paint from the tube and emphasizes Old Holland's focus on craftsmanship and quality.

Oil paint with amazing color strength

The range with the qualities we know today saw the light of day in 1985. Based on extensive research, Old Holland was able to replace the traditional non-light pigments with modern and lightfast pigments that still had the same color characteristics. This means that the colors have retained their clarity, but the lightfastness has been improved to be among the absolute best.

The only medium used in Old Holland oil paint is cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil. It is used to achieve optimal drying of the paint, also known as oxidation.
