Painting with oil paints is something humans have been doing for hundreds of years. It's not actually known exactly when we first started mixing oil with pigments, but the kind of oil paint we know and love today essentially dates back to the Renaissance.
Although oil paint gained competition from the rise of acrylic paint in the 1940s, oil paint is still widely used by novice and professional artists alike. Oil paints are not only suitable for classic styles such as portraits or still life paintings, but also for more modern styles such as abstract paintings.

Gamblin
Gamblin is particularly known for their highly pigmented oil paints, all of which are produced by hand. All colors are mixed with refined linseed oil, which yellows less over time than other oil paints traditionally used for this purpose.
